Search-Sci.com is a federation of independently owned offices, operating under the concept of local markets and functional expertise to provide clients with the best possible human capital solutions. Regional and global projects are often undertaken by more than one office.

Although focused on Executive and Professional Search, we remain open to engage in challenging assignments requiring special skills not commonly associated with our trade. Some special projects may require expertise, for example, with M&As and StartUp operations.

Our Approach

The foundation of a successful search assignment is a thorough understanding of the clients’ needs and expectations. Our approach, developed over many years of experience and results, includes several important steps:

  • Client Consultation and needs Assessment – We learn as much as possible about the client’s business, culture, and strategy to understand the experience and character needed for successful results
  • Development of Formal Specifications – We prepare a written position description that details the responsibilities of the position and the qualifications of the ideal candidate. This specification is the “blueprint” that guides the search process
  • Search Strategy and Research – After working closely with the client to target industries and potential candidates, we turn to our business partners and extensive network of industry sources, current and former clients, past candidates, and our internal databases to identify prospective candidates
  • Interviews and Assessment – Our consultants and business partners personally interview candidates to assess their suitability for the position
  • Presentation of Candidates – The most qualified candidates are presented to the client in confidential written reports. These reports provide a thorough review of previous accomplishments, an assessment of personal characteristics, cultural fit, management style, and verification of educational and employment background
  • Client Interview – Our consultants and business partners arrange meetings between candidates and clients, including travel arrangements
  • Referencing – After the client selects final candidates, we conduct in-depth interviews with personal references to obtain additional information on candidate qualifications
  • Negotiation – In completing an assignment, we can provide advice to the client on an appropriate compensation package for the new executive / professional
  • Follow-Up – As the search assignment concludes, our involvement continues. We work to help the new executive / professional to integrate successfully in the new organization

Alexis Bello

Cardiovascular Surgeon

Dr. Bello runs his practice at Hospital de Clinicas Caracas in Venezuela which he presided for 23 years (1986-2009). He is also a former President of the Association of Latin American Leading Hospitals. Noteworthy are his lifetime achievements of more than 9,500 surgical procedures and having pioneered the aortic valve implantation and myocardial revascularization in Latin America. He has authored more than 300 manuscripts and is a recipient of the Scientific Recognition Award of the Medtronic Foundation. He earned his M.D. degree at Universidad Central de Venezuela, was a Research Fellow at Harvard University and had a Fellowship in Cardiac Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Founder and Managing Partner of Biopharma Consulting AG, a boutique consulting initiative dedicated to business development, interim management, start-up, strategic planning, market studies and family business practices. Thomas’ Biopharma industry experience spans thirty years in C-suite roles such as CEO, Regional President Europe, General Director, Country Manager, Business Unit and Marketing Director of Pfizer, Roche, Biotoscana Group, Stendhal, Pint Pharma and Farma Group in Europe and Latin America. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of St. Gallen and several graduate certificates from MIT and Harvard Business School. Native of Switzerland, he is fluent in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

Alberto Armoni

Formerly a physician specialized in applied psychology, Armoni brings a unique perspective to the recruitment of top executives. He contributed to establish the first executive search firm in South America in 1962. In 1971, he founded Armoni Consultores, affiliated to a leading international search, and in 1996 he joined the Ray & Berndtson partnership. With more than 40 years of executive search experience in Latin America, Alberto has conducted senior assignments for a wide variety of global organizations in most industries. A graduate of the University of Buenos Aires, Alberto received an M.D. from the School of Medicine and completed graduate studies at the International Psychoanalytic Association.

Carol Safran

Carol has more than 20 years in the executive search industry and supports the firm as strategic advisor overseeing the planning and execution of market investigations to identify and evaluate candidates for local and international assignments. Prior to joining Search-Sci.com she was with ECS Partners, Spencer Stuart and initially with Earley Kielty and Associates, a boutique firm specializing in accounting and finance searches. Carol has led and executed senior level executive searches at both the C-level and middle management. Her industry expertise includes Pharmaceuticals, Financial Services, Logistics, Hospitality & Leisure, Retail, Environmental, Behavioral Health and Non-Profit. She is a graduate of SUNY Binghamton and earned her B.A. degree in English.

Arturo J. Schuler

His experience covers executive search and management assessment in Latin America. He co-founded Ray & Berndtson Caracas in early 1997 and was previously for five years with Korn Ferry International. Schuler held several executive positions in the banking sector for 15 years in Citibank and Midland Bank, in the areas of Consumer Banking, Corporate Banking, Trade Finance, Private Banking and Capital Markets. Most of his clients include major organizations in the HealthCare and R&D industries. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the California State Polytechnic University and a Master of Arts in Personnel Management and Supervision from the Central Michigan University.

Jose has more than 30 years of experience in business and 20 in senior Global and Regional roles in Human Resources. He has extensive experience in Human Resources Strategy, Talent Management (including Talent Acquisition and Development), Organizational Development and Shared Services. In Talent Acquisition he has developed inclusive recruiting strategies, managed the recruitment of General Managers and senior global talent in Marketing and Corporate functions, and worked in the USA, Latin America, and the United Kingdom. Jose has a degree in Computer Science and a postgraduate diploma in Human Resources Management. He is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English.

Claudia Gonzalez

Solid Human Resources and IT Executive Search Consultant with more than 15 years of experience in leadership positions within the Technology and Professional Services industries. Prior to joining the search industry Salterio was Area Manager and EVP of HSBC Bank Panama (currently Banistmo), where he worked for more than 20 years, and was also a member of the Panamanian Banking Commission. He also served as advisor to Presidents and Legislative Members of the Panamanian government. He was President of the Smithsonian Foundation in Panama, is a recipient of the M.B.E. of the United Kingdom, a member of the Panama Chamber of Commerce and a former President of the Panama Banking Association, the American Chamber of Commerce and the Panama British Business Council. He holds Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & M University and has taken postgraduate courses in International Banking and Business Administration.
