Finance Director – Mexico
Our client is a major pharmaceutical company that produces, markets and distributes prescription pharmaceuticals and consumer health products.
The Executive will be based Mexico City and report on a dotted line to the Country Manager of the Mexican affiliate and administratively to the Corporate CFO (VP of Finance) in New York.
Also reporting to the Country Manager are the Directors of Marketing, Sales, Operations, Human Resources, IT and the Product Line Managers. The company has been operating in Mexico since 1992 and has a headcount of 410.
The FD will oversee the areas of Accounting, Financial Planning & Reporting, Treasury, Taxes, and Internal Controls.
Major Functions
- To supervise the Accounting function, ensuring the prompt posting of the accounting entries onto the Company’s ledgers, and control the Company’s inventories and Cost Accounting
- To direct all of the Financial Reporting process in local currency and US dollars
- To prepare the annual Operating and Capital Budgets in coordination with other Company Managers
- To review and supervise internal control procedures in the management of risk
- To supervise the company’s Cash Management System, to include cash flow forecasts, fund transfers, disbursements, collections and overnight investments
- To manage relations with financial institutions, to include the negotiation of credit facilities in the best possible terms and conditions
- To supervise the Fiscal function, to include the preparation of tax reports and income tax planning and filing
- To control the whole insurance process, to include adequate cover, timely payment of premiums and follow-up on claims, both locally and in conjunction the Corporate CFO
- To participate as liaison between the Company and the external auditors, internal auditors, international auditors and consultants
- To supervise the Procurement activities
- Transference Price Analysis to be in compliance in local country – to identify opportunities for improvement
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business related. Preferably a Chartered Accountant or with extensive formal, or on the job, training in Finance. A Master’s degree would be ideal
- Fluent English and Spanish
- The candidate shall have a minimum of 2-year experience in a similar position with a multinational (preferably Pharmaceutical), and a minimum of 10 years of total work experience
- Ideally with 2-4 years in a Big 4 audit firm early in his/her career
- Solid experience in fiscal planning and taxes, financial planning and reporting, internal controls and managing bank relations
- Experienced at managing teams and at making presentations. Knowledge of Chilean legal and statutory requirements.
- High proficiency in the use of PCs, including creative worksheets, word processors and financial analysis, ERP Microsoft Dynamic or SAP and Hyperion Financial Management (not exclusive)
